Traditions remind us of our past and bring generations of family together. That holds true for 1088. A Czech family owned and operated brewery with beer recipes that date as far back as 1088, the earliest known year of brewing with hops in the Czech Republic. With no existing branding in the family's history, the Portland based brewery needed a distinctive design that highlighted the unique brewing history of their family and the long standing brewing history of the Czech people. Using a custom logotype "1088" and a hand drawn symbol derived from the Czech Coat of Arms, the packaging is bold, chic, and elegant, grounded in family history and the longstanding Czech tradition of brewing excellent world class beer.

The custom logotype "1088" is based on the first known year of brewing in the Czech Republic. The lions head logo with the three pointed crown was mirrored after the Moravian Eagle, the Czech Republic's Coat of Arms symbol.
